The True Parents Are One Person

In English, it is clear whether a word is singular or plural. In Korean it isn’t. The Korean word, , can mean parent parents.

Therefore, the phrase, “the True Parent is one person, one parent,” can be translated “the True Parents are one person, one parent.” Just as the one God is also two, husband and wife are also one. In this 2010 proclamation, True Father was emphasizing oneness.

In his 1973 American tour, True Father asked his audience to imagine “a famous man [and] a woman who is unassuming and meek and without beauty or education.” Through marriage, he said, “she will instantly achieve his level of prestige. …Whatever power, authority and prestige [he] enjoys, [she] would share in every respect.”

This is the ideal of love: “Love is the force that unites. Husband and wife become one in love. This means the husband’s love, life, and ideal become the wife’s, and the wife’s love, life, and ideal become the husband’s.”

This is the Genesis 2:24 ideal, which True Father then referenced: “This is the way that two live as one, and two become one flesh.”

Yes, the male initiates, but not for his own purposes, for, “as a man, …you were created for a woman.”  As for women, “your beauty is not for your own gratification; it is for the delight of men.” True Father’s point being, “This is the very reason for our existence; we exist for others, for an object, for a counterpart.”

The fallen world deems the feminine to be weak, and weakness to be inferior, but in love, what is “weak” holds the greatest power: “For to be sure, he was crucified in weakness, yet he lives by God’s power.”

God is weak without a partner: “God cannot exist alone,” said True Father. Out of God’s “weakness” came the power to create the universe.

“Once Adam and Eve reached perfection,” True Father said in 2005, “God planned to dwell within them, to have complete oneness with them. …He would be Adam and at the same time God. Likewise, He would be Eve and at the same time God.”

God would be Adam, God would be Eve, and God is One.
